NEW DELHI: Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, is renowned for his humility and grounded nature, despite his superstar status and a massive fan following in India and beyond.
Dhoni has a reputation for supporting young players and allowing them to take the spotlight during tournament celebrations, whether in international cricket or the Indian Premier League (IPL).
In a viral video, Dhoni displays yet another example of his humble demeanor. The footage captures him on a flight with his wife, Sakshi, as an air hostess presents a plate filled with chocolates, dates, and other snacks as a gesture of hospitality.
As the air hostess approaches Dhoni with the tray, he is pleasantly surprised and greets her with a smile. However, instead of indulging in the assortment of sweets, Dhoni politely chooses only a packet of dates, declining the rest.
Dhoni adheres to a strict diet and fitness regimen, which has contributed to his remarkable physical condition despite being nearly 42 years old. It enables him to continue playing competitive cricket in the IPL.
The video also reveals Dhoni traveling in economy class and engrossed in playing the popular tile-matching video game, “Candy Crush,” on his device. This led to a surge in the game’s popularity on social media, with 3.6 million new downloads in just three hours, a statistic that was acknowledged by the company itself.
The official “Candy Crush” Twitter handle even posted a tweet expressing gratitude to MSD (Mahendra Singh Dhoni) for the attention brought to the game.
