Ruturaj Gaikwad will be the captain of the Asian Games team. The team will also include popular players from the Indian Premier League (IPL) like Jitesh Sharma, Prabhsimran Singh, Washington Sundar, Shivam Dube, and Rinku Singh.
The Indian team for the Asian Games 2023 has attracted a lot of attention since it was announced. The Asian Games is happening at the same time as the ODI World Cup, so the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has chosen a less experienced Indian team for the Asian Games in Hangzhou. The men’s cricket event will take place from September 28 to October 8. Ruturaj Gaikwad, who plays for the Chennai Super Kings, will be the leader of the team. Some other important players in the team are Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, and Arshdeep Singh, among others. Aakash Chopra, who used to be an Indian opening batsman, was surprised that Arshdeep was included in the group.
Arshdeep, the skilled speed bowler for Punjab Kings, has played for Team India in 26 T20Is and 3 ODIs. He’s famous for his outstanding ability to bowl well during the final moments of matches. Commentator Chopra expressed his surprise that the team is not considering adding Arshdeep to the ODI World Cup.
“I am surprised that Arshdeep Singh’s name is not on this team. I’m surprised because they are not including him in ODIs at all. They didn’t select him for the ODIs in the West Indies either,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.
“Currently, they’re not thinking about including him in the Asia Cup team. Moreover, he’s not even on the list of players for the World Cup. It’s a bit puzzling, isn’t it? Whenever I look at Arshdeep Singh, I see enormous talent and promising abilities. “He mentioned being a versatile player for both white-ball formats, but they haven’t selected him yet.”
Arshdeep hasn’t been selected for the upcoming ODIs against West Indies. But, the group has chosen him to be part of the team for the next series of five T20 cricket matches against the West Indies.
Ruturaj Gaikwad will captain the Asian Games squad, and the squad includes IPL players such as Jitesh Sharma, Prabhsimran Singh, Washington Sundar, Shivam Dube, Rinku Singh, Shahbaz Ahmed, Ravi Bishnoi, and others.
As for the standby players, Sai Kishore, Yash Thakur, Deepak Hooda, and Sai Sudharshan have been chosen.
